7 Day Service 

Urgent and routine appointments with a GP, either same day or in advance are now available in Oldham.

You can now book to see a GP in Oldham in the evening and at weekends. Anyone registered with an Oldham GP will be able to choose from the appointments available across the borough. 

NB This is not a walk-in service. These appointments must be booked in advance and may not be with your own GP.

The opening hours are 6:30pm - 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am-2pm Saturday and Sunday.

Travel Vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Non-NHS Services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

• Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
• Insurance claim forms
• Passport signing
• Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
• Private sick notes
• Vaccination certificates

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

Patient Participation Group (PPG)

We have a PPG which is made up of our patients who give us feedback on a regular basis suggesting improvements in the practice for patient care, eg which day is best for late opening surgery. We welcome patients to join the practice PPG. If you wish to be part of this group who meet on a biannual basis then please enquire at the reception desk for more information.

The practice offers dementia screening to all patients over the age of 65 years. This is usually completed by the nurse and involves a simple five minute test, this test is very good at picking up early signs of dementia. Any patients identified as needing further assessment are then referred onto the memory clinic.
