Appointments

Appointments can be booked in by person, telephone or online via Patient access Online services

The Jalal practice has a multidisciplinary team who we have regular appointments with. This team includes clinicians such as Advance Nurse Practitioner’s, Clinical Pharmacist’s, Practice Nurse, Health Care Assistance and Doctors. Also, Reception and Admin team who have been trained to triage calls and delegate patient to the appropriate clinician or services therefore a brief description of your issues will be helpful when you call into the surgery.

We aim to provide appointments with your chosen clinician depending on the nature of your problem. However if this is not available on the day of call we will always signpost you to alternative services available.

Nurse Appointments

When booking a nurse appointment it is important to inform reception of the reason for your visit so that an appropriate length of time is allocated.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

Appointments can be cancelled by emailing the surgery or by telephone.

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:30.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls. A member of staff will contact you regarding the visit.

DNA’s – Did not attend

The Jalal practice prides itself on providing our patients with good and rapid access to appointments.

Over the last few months it has been noted that a proportion of patients are booking appointments but not attending.

The vast majority of patients are excellent at keeping their appointments. However there is a significant minority of patients that do not attend (DNA). With this in mind consistent non-attendance of appointments will result in patients being removed from the practice list. The practice will not be able to help all our patients if we have to lose a lot of time with missed appointments from the patients. If patients Do Not Attend an appointment at the practice without reason or warning three times, they will initially receive a first warning via letter, email or text message. If they DNA again a further notification will be issued and will result in removal from the practice register. Parents get the warning letter for dependent children. Please help us to reduce the DNA’s.

How to manage your appointment.

  • When you book your appointment please make it on a day and time that you will be able to attend.
  • Make a note of the date and time in your diary, calendar, or somewhere.
  • If you are held up or unable to attend then phone and cancel or re-book the appointment.

We offer a text message reminder service. Please provide an up to date mobile number.
